YongPyong Resort Gangwon-Do | A Heaven On Earth

Who wouldn’t love to experience skiing in a beautiful site that too in winters? There are only a few skiing resorts in the world worth trying and Yongpyong Resort is one of them. It is referred as one of the best skiing resorts of South Korea owing to its location and facilities to make the fun double for the people.

But Yongpyong is not just a hot spot in winters, it has a lot to offer for summer too. Beat the heat this summer and head over to YongPyong resort and make some unforgettable memories. I went to Yongpyong Resort in July as part of our “Korea Wellness” Program by Korea Tourism Organization. Thanks to them for giving us the opportunity to explore this hidden gem in Korea.

Things to do in Yongpyong Resort

Located in the serene area of Mount Balwangsan in Pyeongchang in Gangwon province, this resort has a lot more to offer to its visitors other than skiing. Not only skiers but snowboarders also love stopping over at the resort to enjoy the snowboarding.

The average snowfall of 250cm, annual, serves as a cherry on top when it comes to reaping the benefits of snowboarding and skiing. The resort won the site of the year for Pyeongchang Winter Olympics of 2018.

There also are golf fields, a clean and fresh water park, cable car, slopes and a beautiful hotel to stay in. 

Yongpyong Luge

The yongpyong luge is another thrilling activity to take part in while you are at the resort. There are a number of slopes and a rainbow zone with a series of rainbow slopes.

You can enjoy the exciting ride at the Luge having around 1458m track with LED lights. The sight from Yongpyong Luke at night is yet another memorable thing to cherish as you can see the view from above.

Mountain Coaster at Yongpyong Resort

The fun does not end here as you can also ride at your personal mountain coaster. The resort has different sports of its own kind and this is one of it.

With the mountain coaster, you can enjoy the thrilling ride of 1300 metre steep slope at a maximum speed of 40km.

Balwangsan Cable Car

If you are more of a nature lover, Balwangsan cable car is your best match. This is Asia’s longest ride to view the breathtaking landscape. You will be surrounded by the Balwangsan Mountain and the green trees that accompany it throughout.

Hiking in the YongPyong Resort

Singing Bowl Wellness Program

On our second day of the trip, we had a wonderful wellness program to refreshen our soul and heal our mind through a singing bowl therapy program.

Tibetan Singing bowl-therapy decreases pain, physical and emotional pressure. … This therapy is a therapeutic technique found in many ancient civilizations, takes these sounds a bit further, using noises to potentially relieve physical anxieties and pains, alleviate depression or other behavioral and emotional problems.

We had a great time meditating the soul through #SingingBowl at the #?????. These bowls produce a rich, deep tone when played and are said to promote relaxation and offer powerful #healing properties ?

How to go to Yongpyong Resort

You go to Gangbyeon Station at line 2 and exit 4 and take the Dong Seoul bus terminal. Now take an intercity bus to the Hoenggye bus terminal which will take you 3-hours.

From this station, you can easily go for the Yongpyong Resort which will take only 13-15 minutes. If you dont think this is a perfect match, you can always opt for a shuttle.
