Seoul City Wall Hanyangdoseong Cultural Festival 2020 Review i.e [??????? 2020]

Hi everyone, I hope you guys are enjoying the fall foliage. The weather is changing so make sure to dress warm and consume hot drinks often.

Due to the pandemic, although a lot of major events of Seoul have been canceled, keeping the security and safety of the people the topmost priority, Seoul has still managed to organized the “Cultural Festival of Hanyangdoseong i.e Seoul City Wall”. The Cultural Festival of Hanyangdoseong i.e ??????? was held from 9th-10th October 2020.

As expected, this year’s festival was quite different from the previous years but kudos to the organizers, the citizens were able to enjoy the festival to its fullest. So here is the review of the ??????? 2020.

Review Of The Cultural Festival Of Hanyangdoseong

This year a lot of events were held online, and offline too following the social distancing guidelines. Let us first talk about the events that were held online.

Golden Bell Quiz About Seoul City Wall

This was a quiz competition that was organized separately for both foreigners and locals. The quiz was about the history of Hanyangdoseong and Seoul city. I wasn’t expecting a lot of foreigners will participate but I was so glad to see many people’s participating in the quiz show.

Guess what, I was also among the participants 🙂 And I won second place.

There was prize money for the winners and gift coupons for all the participants. In a nutshell, this was such a fruitful activity and I learnt a lot about the city wall while preparing for the quiz.

Online Singing Competition about Hanyangdoseong

There was also an online singing competition where students from all over the country participated. Lee Eun-gyeol won the grand prize with the song <I fell in love with Hanyang City> ! Congratulations for winning the 1st prize ?

Heunginjimun Online Concert

A beautiful Korean traditional music performance was also held at Heunginjimun, the only gate among the eight gates of the Hanyang City Wall! It took place via online streaming.

Although the concert was broadcasted live, if you couldn’t watch it, the whole video is also there on the Youtube channel. Cheers 🙂

 

Offline Programs

Apart from the above online programs, there were multiple offline programs too that were held following the guidelines of the social distancing e.g Non-face-to-face Sunseong Nori and Connect Sunseong, and Mission Sunseong!

A lot of people actually participated in these events too.

Hanyangdoseong Sunseong Nori

The first one is based on traditional believes where you can participate in a walk around the wall for a wish to overcome the COVID-19. It has been believed that during the Joseon Dynasty, the city’s citizens enjoyed Sunseong Nori inside the city.

People also walked across the city wall and took photos with the famous tiger mascot.

Hanyangdoseong Photo Exhibition

There was also a photo exhibition held this time . It was an opportunity to see the pictures of the city’s Citizens’ Soonseong Hall, the castle town residents, and the people who love the city’s city.

Personally, I loved the way the organizers managed to organize this wonderful event both online and offline despite the pandemic. A lot of people participated and appreciated the efforts of the local government for organizing the festival.
