If you call Seoul as the city of festivals, it won’t be wrong. From the Fireworks festival to Water Gun Festival, Lotus Culture Festival to Kimchi Festival, this city has so much to offer for every kind of traveler. It doesn’t matter what time of the year you come to this city, this city is always a good idea 🙂 But if you are coming here in Fall, trust me, you will just fall in love with the city so much that it would be hard for you to leave. Beautiful fall foliage and the Seoul Lantern Festival are the big events that attract millions of tourists around the globe in the month of November. Let’s see why this event is so popular.

Seoul Lantern Festival is celebrated annually in November, for a period of around two-weeks. Every year the festival is organized under a particular theme to promote the rich history and culture of Seoul. This year the festival was organized under the theme “Your Seoul, Dreams with Lights” that featured characters from world’s famous fairty tales and traditional Korea folk tales. The festival creates a magical atmosphere along the Cheonggyecheon Stream which attracts around 2 million tourists making it one of the biggest festivals of Korea.

Find your fairy tale at Seoul Lantern Festival

It doesn’t matter whether you are a fan of Cindrella or in love with the Aladin & Jazmine princess story, you can find your favorite childhood fairytale characters in the shape of larger-than-life paper lanterns.

There are a bunch of Korean traditional tale characters too, so since I didn’t know a lot about those characters, I just ended up taking pictures with them 😀

Find your Chinese Zodiac Animal

Do you know that in Chinese Zodiac, every year corresponds to one of the 12 animals? These signs in order are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

At the Seoul Lantern Festival, you can find out all these animals decorated in the shape of beautiful and tall sized paper lanterns.

The lanterns and the path alongside the Cheonggyecheon stream look so beautiful that you just can’t stop taking pictures (esp if you are Instagrammer). But there were also a few spots, esp this bridge with the mini-lights decoration throughout the way, that was the center of attention of many visitors.

Various food stalls were also installed at the roads alongside the Cheonggyecheon water stream offering both traditional and international cuisines.
