2016 ?????? (Korea & China Singing and Dance Festival)

It’s been 9 months since I came to Korea and with the passage of every day I have been making unforgettable memories and experiencing new things. Rainy season has already begun here, which I don’t like a lot but despite of the rain, last weekend I made one of the best weekends I had in Korea and it was because of ?????? (Korean-Chinese Singing and Dance Festival).

??????  festival was celebrated for the first time this year in the honor of “2016 Visit Daegu Year” but has been decided to be held every year. This year 14 teams participated in total, 3 teams represented China and 11 teams represented Korea.

When I reached at the event place, I was so surprised that despite of rain, lots of people showed up to watch the performances and support the teams. Since I am one of the Daegu International Blog Supporters, I was one of the audience judges and was given a voting remote.

With the welcoming speech by Director of Daegu Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, the festival began officially.

First team to perform was Team Rainbow representing China. Although they were elementary school kids but their performance was mind blowing. They dance so well and sang so well while holding signposts in their hands. I remember, upon finishing their performance I kept on clapping for a long time. These kids were really amazing.

Team Rainbow’s performance was so stunning that audience judges had to give them a high score of 94.4 out of 100.

Team ‘Smoking Man’ from China performed at number two. The team had their own drummer and sang really well. One of the things which impressed me a lot was it’s been just one year in Korea and they were speaking really good Korean. I felt like I need to study more and improve my Korean speaking skills 🙂

Team ‘Smoking Man’ managed to get 85.75 score which was relatively far lower than Team Rainbow’s score.

Third team representing China was ‘????’ and are basically from Shanghai. They were also like second to none; especially their body moves were breath taking.

A beautiful song sang with a powerful voice made them get 88.4 score from audience.

At this moment I was feeling sad since all the performances were over and I was enjoying each and every performance a lot. Meanwhile I was also curious to know which team snatched gold and who’s going with bronze. The final scores were calculated by score from main judges and the ones given by audience.

Finally the wait was over. At first there was a ‘Special Prize’ for the team and the award went to team ‘?????’. They deserved it as they performed extraordinary dance including Chinese martial arts.

?????? is first of its kind of event held for the first time in Daegu. The aim of the festival was to attract more Chinese visitors to Daegu, to open Daegu to the world and above all to celebrate cultural diversity. Thank you Daegu for making my day an unforgettable one 🙂
